The Route - 7.2 Miles
Summit to Summit is unlike any other race course because of the uniqueness offered by the Scotts Bluff National Monument. This route combines road and trail, both uphill and downhill, to create a 7.2-mile course that is one seriously monumental challenge!
In order to comply with SBNM rules, runners and walkers must be off Summit Road in Scotts Bluff National Monument by 10:00 a.m.
For ALL runners and walkers:
The route is approximately 7.2 miles round trip. Depending on pace, the route takes between 45 minutes to two and a half hours to complete.
All runners and walkers will begin at the Summit Christian College campus in Gering, NE (green pin on right side of map), go west up the pathway adjacent to U Street to the Scotts Bluff National Monument's east walk-through entrance and follow the paved path 1.2 miles to the Visitors Center, following the arrows to the Saddle Rock Trail, continuing toward the Monument and walk-through tunnel 1.6 miles, reaching the top parking lot, crossing the MIDWAY MARK TIMING MAT, and then descending from the parking lot down Summit Road to the Visitors Center, then returning to the college via the same paved pathway. See the maps at the right, with the return route shown in light blue. The route ends at the same location as it begins, shown by the red pin.
